I'd like to point out that they had a two-way tunnel right beside it, and they tried to get another train to push him out. He locked his brakes. The best option was to convert a siding and seal it. A lot of trains that are a problem to maintain are left to sit if its too hard to retrieve it. (The controller also said he hated the 'larger engines' because of unreliability.) Henry is also based off an engine famous for being having heating issues. This is explained as him constantly "being sick".

I recall it was a lot less "lessons to be taught" and more "This is a railroad, they are trains, but also sentient." The new ones are about lessons and are a lot more dumbed down too. Instead of a story about "Saving the day by delivering fish for a starving village before winter," the new ones have stories like, "What would a train on the Moon be like." The old ones are darker, but they treated the trains like trains. If an engine shut down in a tunnel, many railroads would just leave it there.
During his first term, didn't he specifically prevent any aid from going to California during a fire there? (He sent aid to Russia for their own fire relief though)
