I’m Velma with a penis. Send me your duck pics.
I mean, it worked with Tejas in the 1800's. You just need to flood the place with Anglo immigrants who'll "encourage" the local government to secede, then "claim" the territory. See also: Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the Kingdom of Hawaii.
Sounds like some active interference from admin, too, given the way a bunch of these announcements were vote-locked in usersub before someone pointed it out and imgur "let" them make it to the FP.
I'm trying to figure it out, too. The best I can tell is that it was something to do with the imgur admins/owners fucking with the irongif's approach. This is based on the idea that technical problems could have been resolved BY admin, and the fact that a bunch of these farewell posts/announcements were vote-locked for a while in user sub, presumably by administrative action.
Oh destroy, totally. Have you seen the stealth ad posts that get to the FP these days? (OP: "check out this cool thing!" partner account in comments: "Here's a link to a shady site where you can buy it!") If you report it, nothing happens. If you try to call it out in a comment, your comments get auto-deleted. Either they're exploiting the system or Imgur is actively assisting these scammers.
Yeah, between the exit of irongif, and the weird stealth ads I keep seeing on the FP (OP: "check out this cool thing!" Partner account comment: "Here's a shady site where you can buy it!") and imgur auto-deleting any comments pointing this out, it feels like the site is getting rapidly enshittified.
My guess is that in addition to not wanting to start drama, they probably don't want to deal with pushback from the new imgur admins/owners, who might be assholes and may or may not be litigious.
For real. This is what my hair looks like and I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with it. One of the negatives of transitioning is that you miss out on a lot of early-on life skills like personal hair styling.
This is what makes The Babadook such a good horror movie. It totally lands that metaphor.
She can sing really well. She's also an experimental artist that did a lot with vocals. To my ear, her "wailing" is reminiscent of some styles of traditional Japanese music.
Also, the wailing was pretty reminiscent of Enka music.
(artist is Lindsay van Ekeleburg)
May I suggest "When Evil Lurks" (2023). VERY good Argentinian horror movie on Shudder.

Or Osamu Tezuka, the father of anime. Check out his short story, "Sack," for a good horror delivery on the concept.
I remember them fondly, but now as an adult in need of arch support, I wince at the thought of wearing them.
I love Kate Beaton's take:
Staged? The mouse seems pretty unpanicked for being surrounded by three cats and a human, and the cats seem relatively confused by the setup.
Pretty sure you can just declare new holy sites anytime. The Mormon Church did it when establishing their religion, and the Science of Identity Foundation (the Hindu cult that Tulsi Gabbard belongs to) keeps declaring new holy sites in Hawaii, of all places.
With dogs, you need to yelp in a high pitched voice immediately after they bite too hard. It's how they learn the difference between play bites and real bites.
I volunteer as tribute!
That makes sense. Millennials grew up alongside tech as it, too, developed. Boomers had it thrust on them, and GenZ was introduced to tech that was already (intentionally) indecipherable.
Japanese recipes: keep everything separate. If you can’t individually identify every ingredient in the final dish, you’ve ruined the aesthetics of the dish and the dish itself.
Roll the dice: Balut or pancit? Fuck it, just go to Jollibee.
I mean, Hogan has always been a piece of shit. IIRC, when Jesse Ventura tried to unionize the WWE wrestlers in the 80's, Hogan heard and went tattling to Vince McMahon, who union-busted the shit out of it.
Flat Earth, Wench, and Liar
