We live hoping for happier times every day. Because of how our brains work, we seek better and better, and often forget the good we had because it wasn't enough. It's a dreadful thought that our happiest times won't even be a memory because we didn't realize it and don't cherish that thought, too busy looking for something else. Reality, but does that not just feel miserable to really examine and understand?
That episode felt like a kick in the dick because I felt it on such a personal level.
Fun fact - in the USA, there is no mandatory military service if we aren't in times of war. They signed up for this. I might sound like a fucking insensitive asshole when I say this, but I don't give a FUCK if they did so for college or whatever. They chose to join. They choose to stand on a line where they could die, instead of choosing to defect. Yes, defecting = jail / prison time but standing here means becoming a complicit nazi just like before.No sympathy for them.
I would agree if it was actually going to social security. It's not. I'd like to stoppaying any country - funding taxes. I'll pay my state instead, my local governing authorities are the only ones doing fuck all for me at this pont.

They do so because the role of staying at home and taking care of kids and the house 24/7 is often foisted upon them, and often, the man thinks that this is equivalent to his career, which may occasionally be as taxing but often is not. They feel unheard and unseen, and they leave. Alternatively, you have higher rates of abusive traits from male partners, higher rates of likelihood to cheat in men over 22, etcetera ... so yeah, it's not because women bad, it's because typically, the men suck.

The funniest thing I ever heard -- and I'm SO sad that these were so common that I don't remember which brand it was ... I have some crazy insomnia, so I used to wake up at ass o'clock and just watch infomercials to get back to sleep while my mom got ready for work. Because at some point, we started caring more about making 3$ off ads than we care about the people affected by rape, murder, suicide, sexual assault, and everything else we censor these days because as you know, a 12 year old hearing the word rape will suddenly manifest inthe earth imploding, but only if it happens on YouTube in content that isn't even marked for children to begin with.
Edible doesn't mean food. I could go eat leather and as long as it isn't treated with certain murder chemicals, I'd be just fine for it. It isn't food, though. Sharks do not benefit from our muscle / bone:fat ratio ... so it would actually be worse for them to actively eat a human being than to leave, even if we didn't resist in any way. We just wouldn't give them the nutrition they need, so they're not coming for us for food.
