My 2yo stumbled a few weeks ago and his cookie broke in half. He cried because his cookie was broken and got angry throwing the cookie at my wife when she told him the cookie was still good. I know it's pretty serious for him but it was also pretty funny for us.
These things happen. Feels crappy but don't let it get to you, there are more (and better) B-day Partys yet to come. Had few friends in my teens and none of them congratulated me on my 18th. I got so bored and lonely I went to visit one of them. Spent a nice evening chatting and gaming, he remembered my birthday 3 or 4 days after that. Still good friends to this day (although nowadays I do the forgetting).Happy Birthday

If your son has anxiety he has good reason to cry. Treat the cause of the anxiety (easier said than done, I know) and the crying will disappear, too. Try finding the cause of his anxiety and talk about that. WHY he has anxiety and HOW you can resolve the issue and get over the anxiety.

There is a vast difference between being a crybaby and showing emotions. When you cry at every corner, that's maybe not the most attractive trait. But never crying, never admitting emotions: not desirable either.
