I'm an American by birth, and an Australian by choice. I know about tea. I like to talk about it, and really anything else as well. Feel free to message me about anything.
Lutheran Pastor here. As confirmed by others, we're encouraged to marry. See 1 Timothy 3:2, for example.
I'm sorry you've been hurt. I hope you have a good support group to care for you. God bless.
As to cherry picking, that's a conversation that won't fit in 140 characters. Suffice to say that I try to live and teach all of scripture.
A lot of it has to do with managing expectations and equipping the couple with tools to be able to talk to each other on even ground.
Premarital counselling has benefits regardless of the tenets behind it. I don't just teach "here's what scripture says".
If you're taking the mantle of head, as Christ is the head of the church, well...that's how Christ earned it. Sure starts some fun convos.
Pastor here. I go further in my pre-marital counselling. Wives, submit. Sure, let's talk about that. But husbands? Die for your wife.
2) Luther argued that prior to the resurrection it's impossible to be without sin. Thus, the blasphemy would be saying you are without sin.
1) Luther wasn't the first protestant, just the first one to survive the Catholic church trying to kill him...that had a printing press.
As to it being immoral, I guess we'll have to disagree on that. To be fair, the suffering man did so willingly, and was also fully God.
You're absolutely correct about scapegoating! In fact, the very idea of a scapegoat comes from the Bible. See Leviticus 16:21-22.
I hope you're flourishing. God bless, mate.
It's a Fight Club reboot called "Waiting".
You trailed off after 5 comments. It seems like you've had a rough time with some Christians. I'm sorry.
Sorry, I should have clarified. I didn't mean "Go to the service", I meant "Go let the minister know this is happening."
This is correct, and sadly is also expected. See: Matthew 7:21 and 2 Timothy 4:3.
Just made a list of Scripture related to why this is wrong if you wanted to argue against it:
If it was me? A bit of both. This doesn't spread the Gospel, and it's contrary to Scripture.
I am so sorry, mate. I'm a Lutheran so recovering Catholic a bit, too. :) My advice? Name and shame, or try to ignore and forgive them.
Sadly true. However, you can still name and shame publicly if that's the case. Something like "X believes workers do not deserve their wage"
Pastor here. Please do go to the church. Tell the minister. The bulletin announcements and sermons would be fun for a while.
Depends on your definition of fake, I guess.
Oh, right. Sorry. May I see it?
Can I see it?
However, many aspects of the current scientific method were developed due to religious beliefs. Sometimes these things can be very useful.
Hey, mate. S'all good. Some things do hold people back, religion included. It's one of many escapes people can use to avoid reality.
Pastor here: you're not only correct, you're not going far enough. If he allowed it, they'd kill him again.
Happy cake day, Liv. Keep on heckin!
