"O, yes,
I say it plain,
America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath—
America *will* be!" ~Langston Hughes

Same difference as between a King and a High King/Emperor. Egypt had kings before they had Pharoahs, the Pharoahs were the ones with the divine right to rule *all* of Egypt.

The BPP was founded in 1966, 2 years after MLK was assassinated. And, within the BPP, the leader the FBI was most scared of and actually went as far as assassinating was Fred Hampton, who centered his movement on inter-racial solidarity. It's about solidarity versus separatism, always has been.

A Private First Class is just the rank above Private. Better pay, higher expectations, but no major changes in duties until you get to the non-commissioned officer ranks (Corporal and the various levels of Sergeants).

Realistically, this is the first step towards finding them in contempt and establishes the inevitability that he will. Giving them the opportunity to cure is just CYA when this inevitably gets appealed up the chain so he can say they had every opportunity to avoid sanction.

I doubt it, frankly. A Pope requires a 2/3rds majority of the Cardinals, and Francis has appointed a decent number, enough that I doubt more than a minority or slight majority would be interested in destroying his works. He's also quite popular outside of the hardcore ultraconservatives as far as I am aware, as a non-Catholic.

Not as intended, fwiw. Just as observed and NASA figured it wouldn't ever cause damage. Complacency kills.

How did they even get to a jury on a defamation case? This is wild and messed up.

It's worth noting that Sugihara also openly protested his own government's treatment of Chinese and Koreans, resigning his commission as an officer in the IJA after being stationed in Korea, and later resigning from a post as Deputy Foreign Minister in Manchukuo over the treatment of the Chinese there. He was apparently a straight-up good and decent man.

Who's we? Who's we??? We are the 100,000 Americans that showed up to protest a 20,000 person Nazi rally in 1939, proving to the American Nazis that they aren't the majority. We are the voters who, in 1940, gave FDR a mandate against isolationism and support for intervention. And we are the Americans who saw Lend-Lease, saw the fall of France, and decided that that wasn't enough and traveled to Spain and China to volunteer to fight fascists. That's who "we" are.

Why is that the 'next' option? Like...Surely there's a middle ground there.

(2/2) As such, it wasn't heavily 'whipped' and Senators were able to leave party lines, both for political and personal reasons.

Serious answer, this was a vote to overrule the Senate parliamentarian that the Dem majority already knew would fail. (1/2)

Imagine thinking it's normal to not hold your leaders accountable.

Mattis: "I'm betting that Trump will be out by March, or in such a state that he won't be able to start a war with Iran."

Territories won in WWI, sorry.

And having to give up territories won in WWII, which lead to an ultranationalist wing of the military taking power and committing atrocities

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's a little more complicated than that. We were good friends before WWII as well. But Japan felt slighted by naval restrictions

Oh, no, I know that. The joke is that it doesn't exist, period :P

...Why'd you link a blank Wikipedia page?

The issue is not the message; The issue is that it's being posted by hate groups in a bid to recruit white people.

Yeah, that was the issue. He wasn't particularly competent or incompetent and recognized his shortcomings. But his advisers were evil fucks.

What's amusing to me is that Tolkein would have looked at this, nodded, and said, "Yep, that's the entire point."

As it should be, let's be honest.

Essentially, while MacDuff was indeed the child of a woman, he was never born. At least, not in the traditional, head-through-vagina, sense.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You're putting the emphasis on the wrong word. He was of no woman *born*, rather than of no *woman* born.

I think you're vastly discounting the utility of being able to stick in a widely available ammo type rather than a specialized cartridge.
