This is probably the highlight of my day :/
the energy to get out of bed, and some days I can't even do that.
addiction? It clearly isn't healthy. I'm off all the social networks now except for here and reddit. I try to keep reddit to just an hour in the morning and an hour at night to stay informed about the deterioration of the world. I don't respond to comments anymore, refuse to let myself get sucked in. I'd like to cut these final couple ties but it would require finding something to replace it with. Preferably something healthy, like touching grass. But...fuck me, I can just barely scrape up...1/2

The internet is, of course, not the problem. Humans inability to use it responsibly is, and that shows no signs of changing any time soon. No one species should have all this power...unless they can demonstrate they can use it responsibly.

for android use URLCheck. Will give you the option of stripping many unnecessary things from links before opening them. Also handy for checking QR codes before following them.

There are other alternatives out there though, depending on your level of comfort in running scripts off some rando's github. also, anyone interested in disentangling themselves, check out the Redact application. It will go through whichever social network you choose and overwrite your account's data (posts, comments, etc.) This is better than trying to delete your posts and comments, as this doesn't actually remove your info, just marks it as hidden in the site's database so that you can't see it. It's still there, and they'll still turn it over to whatever fascist requests or pays for it.
might be a blessing in disguise honestly. Reddit has already turned over user data to the government for users who posted stuff critical of ICE. You think imgur has more integrity, that they wouldn't roll over immediately to give the government whatever it wants? Hell, they probably already have. My wife and I had a potato table catered for our wedding party. It was a huge hit (obvs, who doesn't like potatoes?), and gave me an excuse in the months leading up to try making lots of different potato dishes to figure out what we wanted served.
