I was raised to question everything, and to question it twice as hard if I want to agree with it, especially if people around me tell me I should agree without all the details. This sometimes comes off as argumentative and difficult, but it’s really to consider all the possibilities, perspectives, and facts to understand things. Yeah, I am still occasioanlly wrong, but this “question everything” skill is also why I’ve been good at what I do. I’ve been an auto mechanic to working in NASCAR pit crews, restored classic cars and built engines, been a certified forklift driver, and today work in IT working on both hardware and software. And yes, I still do all my own work on my cars, including modifying software and parts upgrades to make it work and feel the way I want it to be. I wish more people questioned what they are and hear lately before jumping on certain things. Anyway… I come from a history of unsung heroes. Those people where you don’t know their names but you use things they came up with or changed to make your life easier in some way. It could be big, it could be small, and it could be a tool or device in your house with a feature you didn’t know was there, or a subtle but helpful feature added to something that’s been around for ages. It could be physical pr code, but the things we have done are out there and you’ve probably seen or used some of them. And my tip for you (not mine, but thanks to the unsung hero behind it!) : When you’re at gas stations with those pumps that play ads? Press the 2nd button down on the right side of the screen to mute. Enjoy!

I was raised to think having a solid foundation to support a family before actually starting one was the way to go. “Make enough money to feed em before you breed em” is how dad always put it,

From 2014 to 2017, I had a friend model for me who was like that. We came up with the idea that it was all simulated and not actually restraining in any way. Tons of 3d printed breakaway cuffs, knot clips (looks like a knot in photos, but really just a cover clipping rope ends that easily slip out), etc. wish I could find another model now to do more of that. Especially now that I have better 3D printers,

This is where Signal effed up: They have to send the notification through the OS notification API, so the OS can capture the text of that notification. They *should* simply say you got a new message, not what the message is as part of it. I disabled notifications entirely because I never liked how someone over my shoulder could see them anyway.

A lot of places will give you unsecured (non-collateralized) loans. My dad had an $18K loan and some credit card debt when he passed. They stopped collecting interest from the date he passed going forward on that and on his credit cards. It all still had to be paid though so mom didn't lose the house. Only after an estate is dissolved toward debt does the remainder go before a judge to be dismissed, with an exception for medical debt when there's a surviving spouse. That gets reassigned.

I am waiting for someone to create a women's fashion line that has pockets everywhere, and not those shallow pockets in jeans, real pockets.. in everything... a pocket bra, pocket stockings, pocket panties, pockes in sundresses, hats, etc. It would make a killing!

I wish I had the funds... a small bar, 80s themed, Defender, Joust, Centipede, Temptest, and other arcade cabinets, 80s movies on tv screens, 80s music, and have everything in bright neon colors, and instead of a wet t-shirt contest, have a big hair contest.

I was in high school and dad worked in an auto shop. The entire gang there smoked. I set up a garbage barrel just to collect their empty packs. Anywhere from 5 to 12 people in the shop during the day, most were 2pack/day types, they added up fast. Had pretty much everything in the catalogs three times over. Still have my Stetson hat from when the miles thing was winding down.

When I was 24, I went out with a girl who was 19. She and I didn't click, but me and her mom? That's another story. Ever since then, I have favored women 5 to 15 years older than my own age, and still do, even in my 50s. Don't knock it til you try it, you might find you like it. :)

I can’t remember if it was Carol Burnett’s book or Tim Conway’s book, but somewhere in those it was noted Tim’s goal was to make the others break character, especially Korman.., it makes watching CB reruns more entertaining to see them all trying to not lose it in skits with Conway

Anyone know where we can get digital copies of the entire run? I have been looking for a specific short story that was in one of them.. and re-reading the Continuum stuff is always entertaining

This is SOP where I work. They stress that if you are knocked out, they can use your fingerprints and face to log on to devices if you set it up. Always have it require a PIN, and REFUSE to give it. And when traveling, always take a cheap dumb phone, and if you have more than one phone, never carry them together. Ever. They can track both moving together and they get linked.

It amazes me how they go full-cult-conservative, yet their own history, even in cases where they wrote or directed their own shows/movies, they were all about equality, fairness, and humanity to audiences.

I still use my Zune HD. Sucks MS was always too little, too late, and too uncoordinated to make it successful.

Best advice I got in 1995 from a financial advisor: When a Democrat is in office, invest in infrastructure and healthcare. When a Republican is in office, invest in the military complex and fossil fuels. And following that alone... I can only say... I am on track to retire a bit early.
