Even the most well behaved dog will still become a projectile in a crash if they aren't secured properly...

Used to work in a cinema... That's pretty standard of the mess people would leave behind

Interesting that you still think they need a legitimate excuse. Pretty sure that even if you do nothing they'll manage to fabricate a reason. May as well stand up now while you have the momentum.

And this right here is why voting should be compulsory

I think it depends a lot on your starting point. If you come from a culture or environment where being gay or trans is not openly accepted, you would be surprised at how blind people become to gay or trans people in their lives (speaking from personal experience)...they just assume that everyone is cis and straight. As well people can be really good at housing things from themselves or other people.

I think it's ok to acknowledge that any big change in your child's life might take a minute to process as long as the end goal is understanding and acceptance.

Thankfully guns aren't common enough in Australia for that to be a requirement. This incident has already triggered a discussion on further restrictions on gun ownership. As it should.

Ah yeah...in Aus we have an ombudsman who you can report to and who will bring matters like that to court on your behalf. It's a government body and is usually pretty successful with claims for wage theft etc

How is what the CEO did legal? Is there no regulator in the US that monitors these things?

Looking forward to the future demolition of said ballroom and restoration of the original East Wing

Yeah, this sort of protest is a useful mechanism in a democratic society where elected officials pay attention to the desires of their electorate.... This is pretty clearly not the situation in the USA right now

Cool so now you can all pat yourselves on the back and say you did something.... For real though unless you follow up the protest with something tangible like a general strike it's pretty meaningless in the scheme of things

I know that Australian expeditions generally hire a 'summer' and a 'winter' crew. The summer crew will be deployed for the summer months while the winter crew will be there for an entire year

Looking at that article, it is including shootings that result in no fatalities or only 1-2 fatalities but multiple injuries. It is also including police shootings. I'm curious if the USA data includes the same?

It was both, I remember working at the cinema as a teenager and one of the manager's weekly jobs was recording a msg with all of the session times for the upcoming week

Frequent burning actually benefits the environment in Australia... It was widely used by the indigenous people here as a land management tool to prevent high intensity bushfires and a lot of our ecosystems actually depend on it

I think their logic is that it is their right to call someone their *correct* gender. So trans people are infringing on their rights by demanding to be known by a different name/gender (obviously I don't subscribe to these views). I could be off the mark though.... And yeah the logic is whack and doesn't stand up to even a second critical thought
