We have due process, and a lot of the process is completely arbitrary and slow. Why is it better to deport people than naturalize them, teach them their rights, and make them pay taxes? ICE would be more useful and humane if it was repurposed to that end. When an illegal immigrant gets deported for working at a corporate meat packing plant, they get punished more severely than the corporation does for hiring them, likely knowingly, and skirting minimum wage laws.
