The spring to make the boot lid open , parfect spot , just munted a sturdy bracket onto the ecu bolt
I never had any problems with mine in 10 years the fast back had an alternator , starter and 2 wheel bearings , i put it in storage with 189k miles on it and eveything still working even the a/c and zero rust... unfortunatly lost storage (pic is the day I scrapped it ) with 24 hours notice and had no where to store it so scrapped it

They are a lot better than I thought they would be as I was dreading driving it home on the motorway/freeway when I bought it , having had a 2 ton Jag for 10 years but is easily did the 70 mph speed limit and did the limited 90mph with ease , people think they are toy cars but they are surprisingly heavy and weigh nearly a ton . The mk2 is far better than the MK1 and has a Mitsubishi engine, they are the same hp and top speed as real Mini Cooper 1.3 S but 3 seconds quicker to 60 mph lol .
Me too , I`m getting on a bit now and my days of large cars are over so just wanted a cheap run around but it is a lot better than I thought it would be, having gone from a 4.0 LWB Jaguar as my everyday car for 10 years .

I miss all my German Shepherds, I've had 8 and 5 boxers but live in an over 55`s apartment now so can only have a small dog now .
It was fantastic , it went round corners like it was on rails and you couldn't help but grin. I loved it so much it as meant to be a weekend toy but I used it as my everyday car .
You do know that the Excel came out in 1982 and was a restyle of the Eclat which came out in 1975 ?

My 1st car was a red MG metro MK1 , it was before we all had camera phones so I lost the few real photos I had of it lol . I loved it too .
I still have two of those in " jar of junk".
