Fox is not a stupid company, well okay maybe stupid-but not insane. It would not surprise me if his last contract had some terms in it like if he left or his contract wasn't renewed, he was barred from going to a competitor for period of time. Afterall they have paid him in cash and Fox shares, they could have a clawback provision such that if he opens his mouth and defames Fox it would cost him bigly.
