Canada is 1/10th the US population. Even if every Canadian boycotts USA companies (they aren't, plenty of conservatives don't care and low income people can't afford to take a stand on this) surely a 10% reduction in sales isn't going to bankrupt companies. LAYOFFS will absolutely happen. Certain industries will greatly falter. But most companies will survive. The 25% tariffs imposed by Trump are going to be far more impactful on us citizens/companies.
He's an entertainer not a politician.. there's no precedents for this.. oh wait.

Because weapons manufacturers want to get paid.
Recent politics side, the "left" aligns with environmentally friendly, renewable energy. The "right" aligns with big diesel trucks.Blame the right for not buying your cars. They're your supporters now.
