unfortunately the loss of credibility is a bell that can't be unrung easily, if at all. even if someone less evil and stupid is elected after trump is gone, the rest of the world is fully aware by now that that could easily be undone in the next election cycle after that. trust is easy to lose but very hard to regain.

the part that sounds the most obviously fake is the idea that trump has enough self-awareness to even realize that his train of thought has run off the rails. the real donald would just keep plowing ahead without a thought of how little sense it made in that context.

i'm a software developer but am old enough to remember typing fortran programs into keypunch machines in college to generate stacks of punchcards to feed into the mainframe. younger devs these days have no idea how spoiled they are.

i do it because i'm supergreen. lowercase letters are smaller and use less disk and network resources, so they're better for the environment.

when i was in prison i taught an elderly illiterate inmate to read and write. he was a lifer and was never getting out, but his one goal was to be able to read and reply to the letters his young granddaughter would write to him every week. i had no training in teaching literacy but had access to some old phonics books, and we used them to drill every day for a couple of years until things finally fell into place and he was able to start sounding out her letters with little or no help from me.
i would bail on that job and forward that email to the entire company on my way out by way of explanation

he never had a "casino empire". he bought a casino business and somehow managed to mismanage that cash cow into a bankruptcy.
tbf that's a big day in any snail's life. gotta be there for them.
