Yes actually I have, this looks like simple strand hair inside a mesh bounding box, animation would be no more difficult than mesh alone.
I think I'd just take the doors off rather than mess with fans.

I'd run a memory test if you can, might help narrow down the issue.
It looks like a memory error to me, that could be bad memory on the gpu or your RAM. New doesn't necessarily mean it's good.
If it's a tv, it's a bad tv. If it's a computer monitor it's either a bad GPU or a bad monitor. Either way time to start shopping...
Training helps, also a fast shutter speed and plenty of light works if all else fails.
