I'm glad to hear that. They're not always so unreasonably priced here, but are still the single highest costing part to replace. I love Bosch's support. Even here in the states, they are like a breath of fresh air compared to the rest.
It's worth noting that even Speed Queen has fallen into deceptive practices regarding their consumer priced appliances. They are no more or less durable than their contemporaries, however, if you make sure to buy directly from licenses Speed Queen distributors you can get a 5 year manufacturers warranty, which more than makes up for it.
Appliance repair people have existed since appliances have. Things were just cheaper and easier to repair back then.
That's not really true at all. Almost all appliance parts are sold via third party distributors. Manufacturers can be contacted for part numbers if necessary but there aren't any gatekeeping elements being implemented, except by Sony for their TVs. Their warranty claim process is a nightmare of 1990s bureaucracy.
Depending on the appliance, nowadays, that board can cost up to 400-500 dollars.

Commercial brands have to be more durable to keep a more demanding clientele as return customers. Unfortunately, consumers are easy prey for the planned obsolescence economic model. My philosophy has always been to recommend cheaper appliances that will have cheaper repairs because, you're going to have to fix it at some point, regardless. It may as well not be needlessly expensive. I've had an older model GE washer for 10 years that I paid 50 bucks for lol.
Main board problems are quite rare on the older, less complicated board designs. Samsung and LG main boards are horrendous and insanely expensive, comparatively. The first thing that will need replacing in most basic washers is the suspension rods, especially if you like to wash large loads frequently.

I repaired appliances professionally for a decade. If you're not against learning how to do your own repairs, which trust me, is not as daunting as you'd think when you consider the money saved, Whirlpool makes a set you can typically buy for 800-1000 bucks and they have exactly zero digital aspects aside from the main board that manages cycles and whatnot. Every single part of those washers costs less than 100 dollars besides that circuit board and anything short of a tub or transmission -
