There is no such thing as an ethical billionaire. he became a billionaire in 2012, and sought to continue to gain more money.What he did with his time and money afterwards was horrible. Elon invested in things that the populist wanted...e.g bullet trains... He could’ve paid his fair share in taxes, but exploited the legal loopholes to not do any of that... to a mass more wealth. Elon has been doing this for a long time.
What you are describing, is my conjecture! He was always a deep seeded asshole. When Elon gained more power and influence, whatever he wanted, he needed to have. Being radicalized is a choice! He went from starting a Internet payment service to making his name by getting involved with the start up Tesla in the mid 2000s instead of invest his time in get the bullet trains up that Californians voted for. Elon spent a good amount of time swaying the public we away from trains with his stupid ideas.
