Six String Samurai

It's an objectively terrible movie from a realistic technology basis. However, it perfectly captures the spirit of how hacking actually feels.

As someone who has an inclination to "boy scout" for trips and "always be prepared", I've found it helpful to instead just give myself a budget on a credit card. Then I can "not pack" something like a raincoat and instead say, if it rains I'll just buy one. Unsurprisingly, I rarely ever need those things I didn't pack just in case. Hope this helps.

Yes. Practically all tribes have the name they call themselves and the name someone else first introduced them as. It's like how people from USA think of themselves as Americans but the rest of the world just introduces them as Assholes.

On its own, no MSG is GRAS (generally recognized as safe). However, some people have sensitivities. Additionally confounding this was some old racist dietary advice. So, if you try it and have no issues, enjoy. If you do have issues expect uninformed people to call you racist.

My wife gets migraines from it. I've done blind tests on her too. Meat, tomato, and seaweed are fine. All those foods have glutamate which is not the same as MSG. MSG is one specific sodium salt while the unrefined form is an amino acid.
I love MSG myself and recognize that it is GRAS, but it's worth remembering that it's a shelf stable way to imitate glutamate in food and not the same thing on a chemical level and thus people can have real sensitivity to it.

Being a dude can make it even harder to find cross gender friendship. I avoid giving compliments that might seem like I'm hitting on women. I sit at the front for yoga so it doesn't look like I'm perving. I don't ask females at work to do anything afterwards just to be safe. My goal is to never be the reason they would choose the bear. However, it also limits friendship opportunities with some awesome people.

Never seen fireflies, always wanted to, but have heard that firefly tourism is destroying their habitat. So, instead I hope I just randomly see one when traveling some day.

Punk is about expression. So long as you're expressing yourself it's not fake.

A fantastic series. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks so

I would suggest a boat or airplane. Experience shows that driving isn't a good option.

Does anyone have a source link on that TERF war? If like details, but everything seems to lead me back to a random X post with nothing more than an image.

I figured the license was better protection for her. I'd rather something happen to me while I'm doing a good deed than that I avoid issues and not do good deeds.

This is what a restraining order is for. Then when she violates it by calling you the police are under orders to jail her. Don't go to the police for help, go to the courts.

Remember that art is defined in many ways, and one of those is a piece created solely to fulfill the desire of the artist. The recognition you receive from others has no bearing on the art or your skills as an artist. Your work might just be waiting to find the right audience, and now you understand more about how marketing your art only aids in selling it while not intrinsically changing the nature of the art itself.

For basic tech jobs I used to bring an open pc into the room and ask people to point to the memory, hard drive, etc. Plenty of applicants couldn't do that.

Same here, still not sure what exactly to do there though.

Once gave a lady stranded at the airport an hour and a half ride to meet her friends (about 3 hours from the airport) who forgot to come pick her up. I handed her my driver's license and had her text it to her friends before leaving the airport so if there was an accident everyone would know where to look. If you're not a bad guy you should never have any issues making someone else more comfortable and safe.

I had to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it working again.

As someone who has been on the other side of hiring, pump yourself up, everything that you can you can reasonably claim you've done should be a massive achievement on your resume. You're up against a bunch of other people making wild claims, don't sell yourself short. Worst case, you get the job and then have to work hard to learn a skill that you were weaker in than you indicated.

There are literally dozens of us that use the litany like this.

I'm in the same boat. Never saw the point in Twitter, but figured I'd give BlueSky a try. Still not sure I see the point.
