Actually, maybe you're right and I've just replaced faith in God with a glimmer of a smidge of a chance of faith in some parts of humanity.....but it's enough to keep me going. What's the alternative? Ive spent enough nights unable to sleep, focusing on the horror and pain, seeing dead and mutilated Gazan children in my mind every time I close my eyes.....I think any contributions I can make through charity, BDS, protesting, they will add up if enough people take a stand.
I dont think that's what I'm doing. I'm focusing my thoughts, time and energy into little things that I can do to bring about some positive change, help keep my mental state more positive and hope, yes, if enough others do the same, that little changes/adjustmens/wins can accumulate and lead to real, lasting change. I know what you're saying, prayer is hope, but I dont like the idea that all hope is like prayer. The alternative for me is a darker outlook that would not energise me to even try.
I know nothing has to get better, but I have to believe that things will get better for my own mental health. I have to believe that my kids future will be better than what we envisage right now. I'm an Atheist, I'm not praying to a higher power or waiting on cosmic Karma to rebalance, but I want to believe in humanity. I wamt to change my focus to optimism and action rather than passive pessimism.
