Here's the thing: the "best" music is not determined by how popular it is. As soon as we can sever the link between art and commerce, we can be free.(disclaimer: I buy my music from BandCamp. I want artists to have a good standard of living)
Controversial opinion: the rhythm section makes that solo sound better than it is
There's so many crimes. Morally, it's a crime the way the people were forced to live in the valley of ashes. There's certainly no justice in Gatsby's death. But is he a hero? Absolutely not.
Gonna take issue with the interpretation that The Great Gatsby is about how "crime doesn't pay" because the titular character ends up dead. That book is about a lot of things, but it's generally thought to be about the death of The American Dream. Depiction is not the same as celebration.(my personal view is that Fitzgerald had a HUGE boner for rich people but that's beside the point)
