Not to be that guy but I believe TPM actually had fewer effects shots than TFA and more practical effects than the OT combined. I think it's just the fully CGI characters that stick in people's minds.

Only a handful (including Grosjean) seemed to really object, then there were a few like Lewis, Max, KMag and Hulk who didn't like the aesthetics but they all accepted the safety argument, given what happened with Jules...

Battlestar Galactica (2003) - divisive ending (S4 mid-season finale is a better ending IMO) but still one of the all-time greats.
