I think there's a bot turfing campaign going on around it. Like you said, the only racist part is that they're different races, but somehow that's the bandwagon everyone seems to be jumping on. Prob russia stoking division
Yeah, it started with irreverent indie humor, but kept the same keel while the world went to shit, so the "questionable" part pretty much fell off. Its been just fun wacky slice of life for quite a while now
Closer than ever before, and there's enough diversity in the fusion space that one might succeed. We can achieve controlled fusion reliably in like 10 different ways now, its just a matter of duration, streamlining input, and retrieving output energy effectively.
I'd also imagine that the social stigma of prostitution is strong even if that's not what they're doing. From the clients expecting things, public opinion, friends and family quietly thinking it, etc

Theres a book I've been reading about what is wrong with people in politics, The Political Mind. I started it in college, but the preface was glazing Obama too much. Getting back into it chapter 1 had the insight: "Progressives have accepted an old view of reason, dating back to the Enlightenment, namely, that reason is conscious, literal, logical, universal, unemotional, disembodied, and serves self-interest. As the cognitive and brain sciences have been showing, this is a false view of reason"

I've always wondered about that. How did he fulfill the criteria of the prophecy if it was just a made up religion? Like, there are some cult of personality things in there at first, but then he survives the waters and such (I haven't read the books, just the movies)

I think it's more of a reminder that extremists look the same regardless of alignment. Eureka had a pretty good run, and ran off the rails several times before it ended (though now that I think about it, said rail runs may have been corporate interference)
Which is extra funny, because in post it 100% reads as pro-trans. Easily the only good and stable relationship Reynholm has ever and will ever have, she was honest about it upfront even if he misheard, he's miserable and weeping over losing it at the end, and the audience comes away knowing that if he wasn't such a dick he could have had it all.
More importantly, cancer is like 500 diseases in a trench coat. Every successful cancer cure fixes one of them, and 10 more are discovered in the same time frame. If you happen to win the suckage lottery, you get one of the ones that can be cured with the new miracle cure, otherwise you get to nuke your body with the rest of us.
He's asking for a standard yes or no answer (trump or Harris) and receiving a legal roundabout. The answer he's getting is technically "yes that is correct" but it's also "they say that's how it happened, yes"
They do recycle the water, it still takes a huge amount to fill the tanks and run the center, but it's not like they're making toxic wastewater. There waste product is heat, which can't be pumped right back into the river, so it has to all sit and cool while still running fresh water in.
In his handheld death ray redux video he says something along the lines of "I probably am the last person who should be telling you this, but these things are dangerous" and all the comments are like "No no, we trust your safety assessment more than the professionals. If you're saying its dangerous, we know its friggen terrifying"
Yeah, I've had to sit with the uncomfortable history around all that. Because really, when do you stop? Lets say we take out the billionaires. And the politicians they bought to act against our interests. And the healthcare c-suites. And the private equity sharks. And the. And the. And the. Its really easy to see how the reign of terror started and lasted.
