Not true. Hindsight is 20/20. There were rumors, but after his leaks it became undeniable. A lot has changed especially for non US-Citizens. We actually have broadly available means to defend our privacy now. Snowden is a hero that was willing to risk everything. He was even willing to lose his girlfriend and his family, just because he followed his conscience. But people in the US are still getting brainwashed by their own media so that Snowden became a villain or a useful idiot at best.
He would have gladly go anywhere else, but no other country was willing to take him. So he had the choice of becoming a russian citizen eventually or go to prison for life just because he was telling the truth. What is so hard to understand about this?

FYI They still have to work around 40 hours per week. That means that they have the possibility to work 10 hours on 4 days for 1 day off. It is a joke and solves nothing.
