You might want to learn basic soldering and how to drain voltage from capasitators/CRT's. Most old stuff needs some recapping and other TLC before plugging them in.
Additional bonus. You are using open wifi in some cafe or in a hotel abroad. You can connect to firewall at home and use your banking app safely. Or login to your webmail without having to worry about MiM attacks.
I have 2 already. VHS/DVD-R combo and old top load Panasonic that waits a new drive belt. Paired with Sony Trinitron 28" with enough different inputs to get a picture out of a ship biscuit if need arises.
