In my experience as a teacher a big problem is passing kids who are not successful instead of holding them back. I currently have 16 and 17-year-olds who are still reading on a third grade level. Why? Why do we have people who drive, and have after school jobs, and are supposed to contemplate going to college who would struggle to read Harry Potter.

I'm on my first watch through of The Boys and this post is giving me unwanted flashbacks to certain scenes featuring The Deep.
I did a capybara cuddle for my birthday this year. It was a really cool experience the facility really did a good job giving these guys a nice environment and it was a family living in the enclosure. The 6-month-old was soft but the adults had for similar to what pigs have. Not super soft but they were incredibly friendly. I had one sitting in my lap like a puppy.
I always thought this was weird. You're telling boys and girls that vaginas will be damaged by sex so girls are only allowed to have sex with one person. Doesn't that still mean that her body will be damaged and her husband is going to be the one doing it to her? Christian abstinence education is weird. I will not call it sex ed because it does not educate you on sex at all.
Not wanting to sleep with the cat is okay but returning it is not. Maybe they don't need to be banned from adopting animals but they should be scrutinized the next time they try to. The question needs to be raised are you going to return this animal again because of some minor issue.

The school I work at has the military on campus trying to recruit students once a month. It's this very surreal thing where the army members will have a pull up bar and do pull-ups and encourage the students to do pull-ups and in the background they have pamphlets and signs with messaging that encourages students who can't afford to go to college to join the military to pay for college. They understand that the draw of patriotism isn't enough anymore.
I only started watching them recently so I can't compare them to the old stuff but I like them. Maybe it's because I like campy cringe humor but I love them and mythical kitchen.

Isn't it funny that the same people who are against breastfeeding in public tend to be the same people in favor of forced pregnancies? It's almost as if they just want to control how and when women use their bodies.
I create something similar to this in my classroom at the beginning of the year every year. And I tell students that I will maintain it as long as I can. I buy the spray deodorant so they can use it in class without having to take it home. That seems to work better so they just use it in class. I always buy a cheap pack of notebooks and folders to give out. You're right a lot of it will get stolen but it's worth it for the kids who need it.
In addition it normalizes bad things happening to people of those groups. It creates a belief system where some people are destined to have bad things happen to them because they are bad and nothing should be done to protect them because they are not worthy of protection.
