It absolutely is inevitable at this point. You can run a lot of this stuff on a desktop pc now. But public ownership is a damn good idea.
The reason the epstein stuff has been causing them issues is that deep down, under all the layers of propaganda, most people are fundamentally moral and empathetic. And a very, very strongly held moral position like "child abuse is evil" can sometimes cut through the brainwashing, depending on how thoroughly a given person has been brainwashed.
Anyone "on the right" who is not a white billionaire or yearning to be ruled by a white billionaire is a moron. It's frustrating people don't get this. The reason most "MAGA" continues to support trump through everything is because the fundamental moral center of the political right is "The person at the top decides right and wrong, truth and lies." You can hear this from deeply religious people. God is good by definition. That's how their moral framework operates.

Rooftop solar has killed more people than nuclear, and coal power has put more radiation into the environment. Nuclear is the current ideal base load provider, with no green equivalent in sight. Nuclear will be needed until fusion reaches maturity, an unknown number of decades away. Anybody who speaks against clean nuclear supports the fossil fuels industry.
We need to get far more active at punishing threats of violence over the internet.

Designing for safety is literally the opposite of individualism. Making your safety YOUR sole responsibility is individualism.
Yes, it is. If you create something that can hurt people, it’s your ethical responsibility to design it for maximum safety, not to simply throw warning labels on everything you were too lazy or cheap to do right. The warning signs are for factors that are completely unavoidable.
