They’re trying to make Protestantism (the crazy evangelical kind) the state religion IMO. Look at this with the fact that they only had a Protestant Easter mass. I think religion is a farce myself, but they’ll use it to further their insane “holy wars”

I saw it in the theater at about 12 y.o. in downtown Brussels with my mom, dad and brother. I was enchanted by how believably “lived in” the film looked (no shiny Cylons here) and it engendered a lifelong love of sci-fi in me. My dad, an aerospace engineer, said of The Millennium Falcon, “it looks like it was made out of old airplane wings.”

The back of my medicine cabinet mirror is metal so I’ve filled it with all of the interesting ephemera of life attached with magnets (cards, pictures, cool stickers) so when I brush my teeth I look at all those things instead of hating on myself

Go Tim Miller! The Bulwark (along with Meidas Touch Network and Heather Cox Richardson) are, imo, some of the BEST reporting/analyses on this shit-show of a “government” we’re currently suffering under. Highly recommend!

And pass the amendment on campaign finances that American Promise is trying to get out there (look it up! Bipartisan support!)

My ex-husband, who was a twat in many respects, started a succulent garden in the gutter of our detached garage. Since we lived in Southern California, where it rarely rains, clogging the gutter didn’t really matter and it was pretty cool. Still a twat tho.

And old coworker once played a prank on another by leaving a small bowl of sweetened oatmeal hidden in her cubicle. The smell became…astonishing

I have a 60th birthday trip planned in a couple of weeks and I was TOTALLY OK with eating the money on cancelled flights and hotel rooms (I DONT have a lot of money) if it meant solidarity with unpaid air traffic controllers and keeping the standoff going. I’m LIVID they caved.

lol I wonder if you could infuriate a kid by asking them, in all sincerity, “oh dear, are you all at sixes and sevens, like an old-timey Englishman? Poor baby!”

In the wild, pigeons would build their nests on rocky cliffs using sticks to keep the eggs from rolling off. Look how she tenderly places the stick next to the kitten!

Same. Worked for 22+ years in VFX, worked a BASELINE of 50 hour weeks (9am-8pm with a +/-3-hr commute). Commonly pushed to 60, 70 hrs/wk. Member of the “Century Club” (100 hours/wk). Missed family/friend events, had ankles like tree trunks and stress-induced hypertension. Outsourced out of the industry in 2018, spent much of my savings, and could find no job better than retail because of specificity of previous job skills/AI hiring nonsense.
