Do you think it is more or less likely for a woman to end up with a meaningful career if she had a child as a teen? Or is she more likely to latch onto a man so she can take care of it, then eventually be forced into whatever low income part time job she can find when it turns out they can’t make ends meet?More teen mothers means less women with careers.
I mean, Kinda? The problem is every action we take solidifies the minds of more people that we are domestic terrorists, so the more we do the worse they become. The problem is, we can’t forcefully re-educate 40% of the population unless they come to it willingly, and we don’t have the capacity to kick their asses so thoroughly that they break (like Germany after ww2) So for now, any dramatic actions we take will either make things acutely worse, or add more generations to the problem.

Idk, I’ve sat right down the third base line about 10 rows back, about 20 ft past third. That was pretty good damn good.

You could argue the “service returned” in a charitable context is the person receiving it being alive and well. Which is effectively what charity to homeless people is. Also consider homeless people tend to have lower literacy, and could also be foreign. It’s not so easy to say “well anyone should know it’s fake!”

The difference between town, village, settlement, city etc is completely arbitrary. But what is in question is not wether it was a city. As you said, people call it whatever they wanted in the region at the time, but I’d be hard pressed to believe anyone around at the time called it any kind of settlement after the eruption, because whatever it was, it WAS destroyed. Even if it was completely intact, above ground, but the people were dead, and it could not be reinhabited, it was destroyed
A city is not its structures, but the people who populate it, and its economic and cultural impact on the world around it. So yes, Herculaneum was destroyed, though it’s structures remain
Was this person brought to a hospital and checked THEN died? I did not think so. And You can parse it however you want, but they were beaten, and, it appears, died directly because of it. Died from beating. Beaten to death.
