Surprise: I'm a dude working on computer hardware and other technology tidbits!

So far, so good.

Also: I've been in IT/Telecommunications for 17 years and I'm not specialized in anything. I doubt I can ever get to "obscene" pay.

My manager's a good dude; I'm hourly; I literally set my own hours; I don't work with customers/users... That's equivalent to $10k salary.

When my kids are more self-sufficient and we get some financial wiggle room, I intend to look around again. Definitely not giving up.

I would never want to do that. You'll probably make more money than me.

"Negotiations" help distribute them to places with voters who favor current political leaders.

CHR limit got me. I meant "protection" as in "protection racket". You pay the mob boss (insurance) to be protected from the goons (gov't).

If your house burns down, you have to rebuild it. Insurance companies are protection from the high costs we incur, largely because of gov't.

We would have to ask the neighborhoods protected by the Black Panthers in the 60s. "Who do you prefer? Gov't protection or private locals?"

And I don't have the stats, but my gut says that building permit fees have risen more than inflation over time.

Excpt the socialization of housing drives up the cost to rebuild and own. Thousands of $ get diverted into gov' fees instead of materials.

Or maybe there's a problem with socialized police? Private security have incentive not to shoot the people paying their wage.

I knew I’d found a woman to marry when she was visibly flustered on our first date. First time that’d happened in 30 years.

The one about your cells liking you: that person has never had an autoimmune disease.

It should be the norm and not exceptional. Women don’t get praise for being a good partner; it’s expected.

This looks like that article from a year ago titled “questions to fall in love”. Highly recommend. It’s the reason I’m married.

Excuse me, but I'd just like to ask a question. What does God need with a starship?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. The police response was 'We would do this regardless of his race.' I believe it and that's even more fucked up.

You can admit when you've failed. You're a better human being than most.

I'm still using the 256MB flash drive I bought in high school. 640K ought to be enough for anybody.

Same boat as @anxiously. The older I get, the more content I am to just say, "shit be magic" and leave it at that.

That's fair. I struggled with the correct way to phrase the top line. Didn't know how else to be succinct in my point.

I specifically do not have valuables in view of lower windows and doors for this reason. Looks like the cheap 1980s from my front door.

Anyone else hear the homerun bat sound from Super Smash?

I think you folks may be confusing "true love" with "partnership". People can love you, care for you even, without wanting to be partnered.

There are so many bureaucratic "incentives" now that only the largest entities really have equal opportunity. Merica is not true capitalism.
