It's probably worse in that he knows it's real but doesn't care because profits. Not to say he isn't obviously an idiot, just also a fucking evil piece of shit.

Unpopular opinion; he's the only pic so far that seems "qualified" and "sane"..... compared to the rest anyway.

He knows it's real - he also knows he won't be around to see the shit get apocalyptic.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is Trump's second choice. He would've picked Anatoly Dyatlov if he was still alive.

“No, best we can do is parrot the idea that everyone needs to move further right”

Leaders who believe in climate change would say "Yes". Leaders who do not believe in climate change, on the other hand, would say "Yes".

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He does believe in climate change fyi. https://youtu.be/UmICJPvUx44?si=yIZH70XmFdMso5kd

In the US, the secretary of energy is far more involved in managing our nuclear weapons than in fossil fuels.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

DOE is huge for funding energy source R&D. Nuclear maintenance is a big part of their portfolio, especially by budget percent. But the main focus is still energy managing energy policy and especially R&D on that front.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I and most of the country LOVE this guy. He’s also into nuclear power.

He’s the BEST thing to come to the US for our energy needs in decades!!!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dumb and dumberer.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Off to hell with this one.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He also has a very punchable face.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Department of Energy is the one responsible for maintaining the nukes.

I mean, they do deal with other energy-related stuff, mostly infrastructure and technology development…but yeah, the National Nuclear Security Administration, the sub-department that deals with the weapons, gets $22B out of Energy's total budge of $32B.

I remember Rick Perry (first Energy Secretary under Trump) literally saying "Wow, I thought this job was just to promote the US fossil fuel industry, I didn't know I had to deal with the nukes!"

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That's some forward thinking then. We *must* be ready to nuke the hurricanes! /s, obviously

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It isnt much consolation to think that these people will be the villains of our descendant’s (if they survive) history

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can’t wait for these dumbass republicans to start realizing their stupidity.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The guy that was in charge of the "take immigrant kids away from immigrant parents" is also back in the same role as last time.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

We still haven't found all the kids that were abducted last time!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

On the bright side, if we can't find 'em, we can't deport 'em.

MAGA: Make America Go Away

The first thought every one of these Trump f*ckers has is, "How can I personally profit from this position?"

I retired from offshore oil. I have fracked, I have drilled, I have pumped, I have produced and I have owned oil wells. Being a “fracking guy” doesn’t mean you don’t understand science. This guy is just a moron if he actually doesn’t understand the scientific method.

As of this year, the annual American temp has risen 2 degrees. In central New York, it is now over 3 degrees. As a result all the climate zoning had to be changed for the first time in its existence. Whereas we were always zone 5, now we are zone 5b. Not good, But what do conservatives care. The know its real, but its easier to deny other than change their lifestyles, or corporate processes. So denying it makes it so much easier to save face.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We're going to have to start breaking things on our own. This election made it clear the government isn't going to save us.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He looks creepy.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On the bright side, we’ll all get to say I told you so when a category 7 hurricane wipes out the bible belt.

1 year ago | Likes 213 Dislikes 2

Cool!!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I live in WNC and we just got hit with a hurricane/storm/flood that destroyed....everything. in the mountains. Not by the ocean. If this happened with trump in office im pretty sure we'd be really fucked considering the liberal strong hold is asheville and we need(ed) A LOT of federal help.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Better stock up on Sharpies.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Please?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hallelujah.

1 year ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Hey, a lot of us living in the South vote blue.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"category 7 hurricane wipes out the bible belt." Oh THANK GOD! Hopefully he will smite donald on that day. Prayers.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, they just blame the libs and their weather machine

1 year ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Sure, but there'd still be less of em!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Bold of you to assume there’ll be any libs left. In the southern states. Or gays, or trans, or, well, anyone “god doesn’t like” for him to send bad weather to torment the, um, good people.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Damn them libs and their Jewish space lasers

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately it will wipe out the Caribbean on the way there and that's where I live.

See if you mention that to the old, rich, white folks, they might care. "Oh no, one of my dream vacation destinations! Quick, start recycling"

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh :( hope you can stay safe. You and your family ❤️

1 year ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Everyone is so happy that death and destruction are coming for red states that they forget innocent people live here and hurricanes don't just stick to the US. It's not as easy as "just leave". I really feel unwelcome in the leftist community every time they cheer on the next hurricane, because my state votes against disaster relief. Like I have a fuckin say in that. And they forget that your home always gets hit first. It's not a good thing. I hope you stay safe, friend.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I take no joy in that :(

1 year ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

How about we do it the way Milton developed? Go churn in the middle of the Gulf and then hit western Florida?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe the dumbasses that believed the government controls the weather will think Trump did it!

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

donald the weather idiot?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trump: Won't have hurricanes if there's no National Hurricane center

1 year ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

They'll all turn back when they hit my wall of Sharpies that Haiti is going to pay for

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don’t worry he will nuke it first, making it much worse.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

oh man I love fallout whipping around at 150+mph

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How much time do we have before said hurricane?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Maybe they just need to RAKE THEIR FIELDS MORE. THAT WILL TAKE CARE OF IT

-TRUMP

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a weird wrinkle I still don't fully understand, he'll ALSO be in charge of the storage and maintenance of the US nuclear arsenal.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So, we can expect our stockpile to quickly decompose into a state similar to that of Russia's.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's too optimistic, I think we'll sell our stockpile to Russia for pennies on the dollar to help alleviate our national debt, but in an unforseen turn of events, that money just goes into private bank accounts.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Excellent. I have some waterfron property in Florida you will just LOVE. Cash offers only.

1 year ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

Might as well buy up the future oceanfront properties in Arizona with those profits.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Who's going to buy them, Ben? Fucking AQUAMAN?!?!

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Chris Wright, our next Secretary of Energy and climate denier.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

he knows it's real, he is just happily destroying the planet for profit.

Sometimes it's almost comforting to think people are competent and evil instead of the alternative.

It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it. - Upton Sinclair, from The Jungle. That book was published in 1905.

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That book is a marvelous read and so depressingly relevant in 2024

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There’s no incentive, monetary or otherwise, for him to “believe in” climate change. But let’s realize here: by “believe in” we mean “act on.”

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yupp

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, he is CEO of a fracking company, and I would be surprised if he left that position and didn't use his new job to boost his previous job somehow.

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

He probably thinks his wealth will keep him and the people he cares about from the worst of it, and he is probably right.

1 year ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

Any of the people in physical proximity to him could change that.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They will not... they will hope he saves them too.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can say confidently that “living” in late stage climate change is going to comparable to living on life support. Not a place where you want to be at all.

1 year ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

He is not right.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Other than isolated instances in 1789 and 1917, when have the rich ever been held accountable, to anyone?

I think the best display was in the movie Deep Impact, when Washington DC was about get hit by a tidal wave and hundreds of helicopters were flying the elite out of the city... while the poor were left to drown... obviously fictional, but the disparity in access to resources is real... the rich are building bunkers, right now... It is our job to drop rattlesnakes down the air vents.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He looks, what, mid-late 50s in that photo? He'll be dead or close enough to it by the time the worst of climate change starts to hit. Before then, most middle class or better people will be able to avoid most of the immediate problems by living further from the equator and outside of flood zones.

Still not without problems, but people can pretend it isn't real, all as things incrementally get worse year by year, so long as they live in the right spot. Even many wrong spot people think that...

1 year ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Even that bleak picture is far more optimistic than my understanding of the outlook. To avoid the depressing tangle of the geopolitical components to how climate change is already harming the welfare and wealth potential of every class (albeit drastically disproportionately). We've just seen historical mountain towns annhilated by one of the now annual superstorms. Polar vortex driven cold snaps are devastating orchards and crops in the southern bread baskets. Im terrified about the gulf stream

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Suffice it to say the consequences of Gulf Stream collape would impact worldwide food production. Trying to speculate at the socioploitical fallout of that is a shitshow of a choose your own nightmare story. We have no where near the autonomous infastructure for even the billionaire preppers to maintain the quality of life they currently enjoy. Still, they certaily will still have more than they need or deserve even then; but take heart, the next 50years will teach every one of us how to lament.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Remember that the supervolcano under Yellowstone could still go off and we wouldn't need to worry about any of that other stuff.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Americans being the most selfish, self-interested, cruel, mean-spirited, and stupid people of the western industrialized nation must want this. Otherwise, they would not have voted the way they did. This makes Americans ignorant, but incredibly stupid beyond even my lowest regard. Because at least ignorance can be rectified by experience and learning... So, there is no excuse for finding anything remotely worthy of Trump after almost a decade of his egotistical constant exposure.

1 year ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Many of us choose to be stupid. The extreme right has been waging a campaign of anti-intellectualism since the 1980's. Our nation deserves to whatever end seems most fitting. Finishing my semester and using my dual-citizenship to get the hell out of here.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

About half the country is fucking devastated by the results of the election, if that helps.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

No. A *minority* of Americans are. The rest either voted for this, or were happy to not vote because they were fine with it happening. >>

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

>> American's don't get to say "half of us didn't want it" any more. You simply don't have the right to say that.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It's less than 2% of a difference, so yea, you can still say that.
