#28 Hey. If she's not willing to stand up and fight for the proletarian revolution she wasn't the one for me anyway.

9 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I wonder what this person thinks is "serious engagement with literature," because it sure isn't reading Atlas Shrugged once and making it your whole personality, and that's all I see right wing people doing.

8 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Yeah, my husband reads all the time and he's a feminist and very left-wing. This makes no sense to me. I'd expect most people who read a lot to lean left.

3 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#6 I hate how true this is XD

#15 The CEO of Bad Dragon has been doing that since the company was founded, you just have to know where to look.

I was going to joke that they're probably also the product quality tester but, it seems it wouldn't have been a joke.

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup. Good times on the old bd forums

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#28 Depends on the literature. Some call "Atlas Shrugged" and "Harry Potter" literature. Some call "Animal Farm" and "The Alchemist" literature, and while they're both technically correct (AS and HP are YAF at best, imo), the authors are definitely on opposite ends of the literature-political-spectrum.

#7 When my grandmother's husband died in the war, she had to move back in with her parents, because she lost her military housing. When her 2nd husband went out for a pack of smokes and never came back, she had to move back in with her parents, because her landlord wouldn't rent to a single woman, and she didn't have access to the bank accounts she contributed to. When my grandfather built her a house in 1965, she demanded that he put her name on the title too, so she had security if he ran too.

#28 Wait, so now reading and being literate is bad? What the fuck?

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a picture of a plane

But it's aggressively true I was so thrilled to find out a guy I was dating had read a book before that I never stopped to question what it was he was reading. The answer, somehow, for some incellish goddamn reason, is always Atlas Shrugged. Every time

The dating scene is fucking unreal; women say they like books and they mean high fantasy or philosophy or usually orc smut. Salaried white guys will say they read and what they really mean is they're a libertarian

#4 I have a friend that is not very smart, how could I explain this meme to him like if he was 5 years old?

11 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Think alcoholic mom facebook memes

10 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

We millennials appear to have a bit of a drinking problem.

10 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was a lot of alcohol for two people, but she only asks about the bread.

11 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Man brings home enormous amount of alcohol and two loaves of bread. Wife asks "Are we expecting visitors?" he says No. She asks "Then why so much bread?" because in their house it is completely normal to buy two cartons of beer, several bottles of wine and what looks like two pints of gin.

On behalf of PaperinoVB's friend, thank you.

What’s with the psyop glow up whatever military video?

Is the govt really marketing the army to Gen Z or …?

10 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The military is now marketing joining the military to young people? They've truly gone too far.

9 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

she's an air force psyops officer who does influencer stuff like that. she's gone to at least one influencer party thrown by the trump offspring.

9 hours ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Wasn't it AI anyways, or was that its own separate story

9 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh right yea there is (or was) an AI insta account that reeled in 1000s of Trump simps. Depressing

5 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The person? She's been posting the mil recruitment type stuff for 4 or 5 years now. Think she's got a social media presence that goes back a decade or more.

9 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tha girl looks barely 20

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Are you surprised a 10 year old was on social media?

6 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#4 I don't get it. Neither does my friend.

9 hours ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

I don't think it's just the subversion of expectations. Could be.

I think it's also recognition that she (or he) might be an alcoholic, which is why they had all the solemn/resolute nodding.

1 hour ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I showed it to my friend and they had no clue either.

9 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

He brought so much booze, then brings two loaves of bread and she asks if they're having guests. You assume it's because he brought enough drink for a gathering, but no. The reveal of it being because of the not that much bread at the end of the delivery is a subversion of expectation. Which some people consider humorous

9 hours ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I don't like what it says about me that I didn't consider that strange at all

8 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Took me a minute. I think the joke is that it's a lot of bread, but she seemed unfazed by the amount of liquor

9 hours ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

Yea no. I get that part. What’s with the movie clips at the end?

1 hour ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ooohhhhhhhhhh!

There’s also the “Traffic was brutal” as he sets a 2/3rds empty bottle of tequila on the counter.

#7 still better than marital rape though -_-

11 hours ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 8

Particularly better than living in a society that refuses to acknowledge the concept in the first place...

5 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Right? Not being able to have your own money, so you belong to your parents until their give you to your husband, and if your husband doesn't want you to have money or leave the house you don't get to.

I genuinely hate people acting like women fighting for rights was bullshit and they had nice cushy lives at home otherwise. They were still working much of the time, they just weren't allowed to make any decisions or have their own money. Better hope you get a good owner.

8 hours ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure it was a joke because this is imgur, and we all understand that woman are fat better off than they were before.

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a time when they're trying to make it more difficult for married women who changed their last names when they got married to vote, and rights are being taken from them- yeah I just have a hard time with that joke right now. It's a thing tradwife people have been saying for a couple years, as they say we should be fully submitting to our husbands. Some of those accounts are satire, yeah, but not all of them.
I would not have thought twice about it 15 years ago, though.

1 hour ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, they didn't fight to waste away in a cubicle, they fought to have control over their own lives rather than ceding it to Mr-Drinks-and-Beats.

When my father was deployed, when I was young, an appliance went out, my mom went to Sears, where my father had a credit card, and they refused to allow my mother to purchase it. She tried to explain that my father was in Kuwait, but because the credit card only had his name they refused.

My parents had to have my grandfather buy it, in his name and then pay them back. This was in the early 90s. It wasn't long ago that financial accounts didn't include women.

8 hours ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

My mom in the mid-90's was told to bring her husband to buy a new car. She told them she wasn't married, and they insisted. She had to go to a completely separate dealership to buy a car.

7 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Women could get their own credit cards and bank accounts in the mid to late 70's. Your father never added your Mom to his credit card account. Which was either an oversight or intentional.

8 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Yeah. It was his first overseas deployment and it was an oversight.
