Being tied up and abandoned is abuse. Perhaps you are referring to a specific type of abuse, like beating the animal. But please understand that severe neglect can be as bad, if not worse, then getting hit/hurt.

There's a reason that word lord is in the term: landlord. From antiquity, organized society requires a class that must be exploited by a smaller class that capitalizes on the larger class's labor. Religion is often co-opted to legitimize the whole affair. Chosen representatives of the guy in the sky who will smite your enemies and make it rain.
