Honestly planning on hschooling in a few years when it’s time for my kid to go to school since I live in the south and the education quality was shit *before* this administration. So much anxiety about accessing good resources since everything is geared towards religious nut birds.
Sigh. True. We aren’t going to Chamberlain our way out of this one - and it’s better to start the resistance sooner than later. Nonetheless, protests do have their place. They don’t convince anyone in charge to change shit , but they do let people know that the resistance is widespread. And soon they’ll start to show that all our vaunted free speech means nothing in a facist regime.
You’re right. But they’re also itching for a reason to declare martial law. For my part, I say that if they don’t want us to work that we comply. Don’t go to work, don’t take care of the kids, don’t make dinner.
Even if a woman chooses not to have kids (assuming she’s still able to make that choice) women do the majority of care for the elderly the ill. And since every one of us who doesn’t die is going to get old that’s a lot. And even if singular women opt out of parenthood, having and caring for children is *essential* to society.

If we’re going to override 40 years of quiet, careful judge stacking/gerrymandering/ext the repubs have been doing we need a massive voter turn out. And a massive continued attention to small appointments and judicial decisions. Vote. But also vote local! And then join/make a small group to monitor your local county board. Show up. Object. Vote for your council.
You totally can, and in some fields it’s a good idea. But a lot of fields/companies will put a hard upper limit on how far you can go without a degree. It’s generally total bs and just a way to legally keep poor people out
Paywalling our accumulated cultural knowledge is wrong and I won’t yield my right to it. I’ll never pay my loans off. From a monetary perspective you’re *totally* right and it was a money pit. And I’d do it again. I’ll happily be the victim of predatory bullshit if it means rich fuckers can’t block our access to knowledge.

This hits like the difference between biblical Jesus and conservative Christian jeebs. The character in the popular zeitgeist and thus a *lot* of representations of them is very different from the actual character in the religious scriptures/cannon. Unregulated capitalism sucks ass. The government letting business do whatever they want never ends well for anyone. Seriously. They kill people. And anyone who thinks that corporations have your best interests at heart is kidding themselves. Like, I revile government overreach plenty- but if you think corporations wouldn’t sell your organs if they could get away with it… then I’m not the one kidding themselves here.
They are. And a decent number of independents lean rethuglican. But I still think more independents are like me. I won’t align myself with democrats for a lot of reasons (Washington was right; no parties!) but they definitely get my vote as the lesser evil and my gun owning ass will side with dems if such a thing happened. But 80% of these people are all bluster. That 20% is worth watching though

I sure do. I don’t regret my kid- he’s fantastic!- but I do regret raising him in a nightmare dystopia that isolates parents and treats children as both a moral obligation, a punishment for sex and luxury item that I shouldn’t have bought if I couldn’t afford it. As a parent I also adore the childless friends and family around me- most of them like kids and it means that boyo has a cadre of adoring aunts and uncles.
