That’s my wife with me talking to her. And for me it’s video games/TV instead of books.
At least in my personal experience, I’ve had great access to public transit in college and in and around the city I live in (which is free for everyone). Not to say that not everyone else has the same access to public transit, but where people do have access, there really isn’t an excuse.
Paid parking at a university is understandable, at least in a college town. People need to stop being used to the convenience of cars, and be comfortable taking public transit.
Different places have different striping applications for different types of weather varying road classes. If you have a lot of snow, I don’t doubt you wouldn’t have RPMs like this. They’d either be recessed or you may only have paint/plastic striping. Where I’m from, we get a lot of rain, and not a lot of snow. When we do get snow, plows with rubber blades (maybe similar to the compound in tires) are used on non freeways where we have more RPMs, and they last longer than your scenario.
In western Washington. Our public works department uses them.
I’m sorry, do you work in public works? I said MITIGATE, not prevent. The rubber blade helps, but does not prevent popping off RPMs. I don’t get why people can only think in absolutes.

Pretty much inevitable, but they can mitigate the damage with a rubber blade on the plow.
