I didn’t read it like that in my head, fwiw

So if an AGI released a bioweapon that killed all of humanity within a week, that’s all about not being able to procreate? Tbh even if we accept the point about lack of procreation defining extinction, I don’t know what you’re trying to prove here

Well that’s good, do you. I’m not even primarily talking about the procreation thing - not sure why you zoomed in hard on that, feels like projecting. I was trying to respond to the thread of “what’s so wrong with human extinction?”, which seems like a ridiculous question to me

Dude, that’s exactly my point - trying to stave off the craziness of the world and where it’s going. It sounds like you have given up because we’re all screwed anyway - a very common viewpoint on the internet these days

Also a lot less life. Many of us enjoy life and find it worth fighting for. If people don’t want to procreate, then don’t… to each their own. Don’t bring us all down with you though please

Could mean either of those things I guess

In the words of Jerry Seinfeld on scuba diving - because living is good and dying, not as good

You seem pretty ok with the extinction of humanity scenario. I’d really like for that one to not happen

The AI public option

Probably not, he attacks the right constantly

That’s definitely also a thing. It’s a balance. Working effectively with AI is also like learning a whole new skill that keeps you on your toes. I treat it like a research partner or assistant… it helps but I’m the boss in the relationship. I’m also 13 years post-grad school, so I already did most of my learning before it existed

The most painful part is how they push this mindset on those who don’t know better

Poster said “when I have to be nice”. LLMs are great at taking raw facts and generating a pleasant and comprehensive email. Plus, they’re way faster at it than me. The time savings adds up

Don’t even try to defend ai on this site lol, it’ll always get downvoted to oblivion. Copilot sucks but other AIs are getting really good, especially the tools we build for specific purposes. This technology will certainly be marching forward over the next 5-10 years. People are handicapping their future by ignoring it (if they have a desk job using a computer)

And yet, almost nobody wants to emigrate to China and half the world wants to emigrate to the US, or at least did during Biden

People generally want to live in democracies over central planning autocracies, just look at what Mao did to starve 50 million of his own people

Genuinely wondering, think the guy filming was actually a facist or just someone trolling - and does it matter? Either way, I think the response was justified

Holy crap dude, almost all of your comments are negative. Might want to consider a readjustment of perspective

Exactly, time to go get lunch

Ok that one needs work 😋

Good on you for not deleting. Will take time for all of us to learn what’s real or not

Best pun I’ve heard in a while

Another Qatari State-funded news source. Doesn’t make it wrong, but definitely a bit suspect. There’s non-Qatari international media out there as well. And what’s with the aggressive swearing, this isn’t personal

But like another commenter mentioned, I don’t see the text in the article that supports your claim about how everyone detained is a terrorist??

Also, visiting China for a human rights check is similar to North Korea - you only get to see what they let you see, and it’s all planned out

Depends on the culture, there are many very poor and very happy areas in the world

But there is no one point or message to Jibaro like those other tales, which usually focus on one specific narrative. Absurdism kind of throws everything at the wall and see what sticks for the viewer. It’s more about what you make of it as an individual

What tale did it tell then? To me, there was no point, just a beautiful story that makes you think. Maybe that some things are eternal

Absurdism at its best. For ppl who like the genre - the author of Fight Club, Chuck Palahniuk, has a bunch of great absurdist novels
