#4 see with this context the $200k fixer upper that the previous owner stripped down to the studs and then gave up on flipping doesn't seem like such a bad deal

#2 I owe about twice my salary in student loan debt that I can in no way pay back due to low wages and insane rent prices, does that count?

#5 this is actually a very kind gesture for a coworker whom you know is off to bigger and better things but without whom you also know your team is suffering an enormous loss

As a 30+yo lady whose knowledge of BattleTech and MechWarrior mostly comes from nostalgia watching her long-deceased dad play those games...this was a lovely dump and I thank you for it.

#30 I've had lengthy conversations with lots of people today and I had to take a moment to self-regulate because I don't normally talk to this many people in a day unless I'm in trouble of some sort

#44 I literally told my mom in a Walmart checkout line when I was twelve years old that she wasn't getting any grandkids from me. Any feelings I've had otherwise were less to do with "craving" a baby and more to do with "craving being treated like an actual human being because after a certain age under capitalism a woman without kids is treated like a problem to be solved and not an independent person"

This helped me when I started seeing someone who I thought was out of my league:

Remember. They have free will.

Is he going to be better than Jasmine Crockett, or are Texas Dems just whitewashing themselves to appeal to MAGA?

Dan Crenshaw lost his Senate primary to someone even worse than him. Between that and election fuckery this is going to be a big fight for TX.

Sometimes you see the little guy before you make the weird noise and they STILL come over because they think that's your way of saying hello and they're excited to see you

#1 little kid me would try this but I think the texture would be all wrong. Also strawberry or raspberry jam would be way better than grape

I did the same thing in college

When I was in high school (over 15 years ago now) it was the Czech Republic, but if the Czechs would prefer their nation be called Czechia, I see no reason not to respect that request.

#22 We had a merged English class in 6th grade but for one particular unit they didn't have enough books for everyone so half the class (myself included) read Hatchet while the other half of the class read Number The Stars by Lois Lowry. I don't know why we never swapped so that everyone could read both.

#4 I remember being able to stick a quarter in a vending machine to get a little handful of those bone candies.

Exactly! A distinct look might make a unifying fashion statement, but it also puts a target on your back. In a surveillance state like what we have today, it isn't worth it.

The conservative guy who taught my college nutrition classes forced us to buy a textbook that he wrote, wherein he fear mongered about seed oils and ranted about planned parenthood. I dropped the course before midterms and if he wasn't already tenured I would have complained to the department chair.

Unless you teach politics, I don't want to read your politics in your textbook.

#38 question AI boosters whose response to criticism of AI's resource requirement is to bring up the amount of resources human beings use. Considering water and energy sucking technology that barely works as more important than protecting and preserving all life on this planet is a slippery slope to justifying genocide and they need to be brought to task for it.

#6 it's also like $500+ to do a full panel drug test. If you've got hundreds of employees and you're drug testing every potential employee who comes through looking for a job, that drug testing budget becomes a big, impractical line item in the operations budget.

I think with multiple readings of the text it becomes clear that toxic masculinity is a symptom of an even bigger issue, which is the capitalist consumerism that drives people to isolation and very boxed-in notions about masculinity and what it means to be a "real" man or a "real" woman. The truth is it only matters when it's financially prudent enough to matter.

There's a sequence in the book that didn't get put in the film where a woman hosting a fancy dinner party loses her mind and destroys a room full of expensive glass perfume bottles, she's cut from the glass and screaming at her staff. Why? Because she hired the Space monkeys to cater her event, and one of them slipped her a note claiming that someone had peed in one of her perfumes, but does not say which one.

None of them had actually been peed in, but the suggestion sent her spiraling.
