Idiocracy definitely covers a chunk of the reality the US currently faces, but I would say it's a combination of a bunch of dystopian futures covered in film and media, from 1984 to the Handmaid's Tale and the movie, Civil War, among others. I suppose none of these are considered dystopian fantasies any more though.
I wasn't making any comment on the judgement as I assumed it would be independent from the pursuit of the charges against her as well as the recommendation of punishments. I agree that there could be a conflict of interest argument in terms of the prosecution and the charges, but less so on the actual judgement as her misuse of funds was clear cut.
