Intrusive ads are more the fault of people who run websites than of advertisers, so this isn't very fair. I judge ads on their own merit.

My point wasn't that the difference is guilt, but that it isn't behavior. When there's always a second chance, an obligation to stop means->
"I may do X, but at least I'm not Y!" is certainly a bad mindset, but "****, I ran a stop sign, I basically caused 9/11!" is arguably worse.

1) It's not an obvious thing to do, 2) It usually doesn't matter, and 3) It's email, not a puzzle, so why put a ton of thought into it?
Not to mention the field of psychology is pretty underdeveloped, especially compared to other sciences.
And while you can pay for a psychiatrist, people like to look down on people who need psychological help. Because reasons.
