I was a developer and sysadmin at a research lab in the US for 10 years, my gross salary increased by 7.6%. Meanwhile my rent went up 30%. Now I live in Norway and am much happier overall, though I would like to get back to IT here. And as long as I keep putting out applications, I'm sure it will happen eventually.
