I think the central problem with modern capitalism is the stock market. Almost every bad decision a large company makes, be it shrinkflation, layoffs, outsourcing, abandoning core principals, letting the product get worse, putting ads on everything... it all comes down to the legal requirement to do whatever you can to hit your 3% YoY growth. Fiduciary Responsibility is the villain.A normal business making $1b 2 years in a row is crazy good. If publicly traded, that makes you an utter failure.
