Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.
Not much worse than knowing yer mum probably dropped a fat log in the chair right before you flopped out.
I have to hard disagree on the "Walt was brilliant" thing. I watched BB late, so based on discourse I was expecting him to be some kind of genius anti-hero but he's just... So very, very stupid. The only reason the show makes it past Season 1 is because everyone around him is just somehow *more* stupid. I found Walter insufferable because he makes the wrong decision at every single turn, but has anime protag levels of plot armor.
AIs are established in the lore. The robotic body is 1-of-1, totally unique, without precedent, and no similar technology is ever seen anywhere else in the galaxy. The existence of these things invalidates a lot of existing canon - like why have an Infiltrator class when you have shape shifting robot doppelgangers that are stronger and faster than any human? I'm not ripping too harshly into the *character* of EDI - just the premise of the robot body breaks the suspension of disbelief, imo.
I was never a fan of humanoid EDI. It seems too far out of place for the technology level of the setting. I suppose you could hand-wave it away, something-something Cerberus, something-something Reapers tech, etc, but it still feels kind of cheap, like everything else Mac Walters touched. That said, nothing against EDI enjoyers. There are so many worse things to be offended by in ME3.
#45 That's part of the hitch. They only have to be as good as the dumbest humans to cause a LOT of problems. Sure it might feel like a relief to imagine your co-worker who asks the same question 14 times a day losing their job to automation, but there are SO MANY of those co-workers, and one machine can replace most of them. And then as a reminder, during the *Great Depression*, unemployment was 'only' 25%. If 1-in-4 of your coworkers lose their job, things get real hinky, real quick.

Unfortunately, stupidity and greed are selected for.
And that's all with the benefit of hindsight. I played ME3 at launch, so not only was I not informed of the cliff, I was explicitly told it did not exist.
I'm glad you like it. I'm not trying to take that away; it was mostly just a silly joke.Personally, I could, and have, written pages about ME3 overall and especially the ending, but suffice it to say I am not a "it's about the journey" person. If you told me we're taking a road trip to see natural wonders and historic landmarks, and then at the end of the trip, we're going to drive off a cliff into the ocean, I will simply not get in the car.
Did I say there *are* any? I said some countries are close. If we accept degrowth as not only not a bad word, but an inevitable necessity, we can get even closer and maybe even achieve it.Don't make the "and yet you participate in society" fallacy. Of course when the entire global economic machine works one way, most countries will play along. But remember that Henry Ford would have rode a horse and carriage to work in the beginning. You can use a tool, while working to make it obsolete.
Steady state economies are perfectly feasible and many countries are close. The reason they seem impossible is because we use debt to spur 'growth'. Debt comes with interest, which necessitates inflation. Immigration is not a fix, it's just another form of easing. We have to get comfortable with degrowth. Yes, it will bring hardship, but there's no way out of this without hardship. We can either do it in a controlled manner, or we'll be *forced* to do it in an uncontrolled manner later.
Incredible game. It's such a travesty they never found the time to make a third one. I bet it would have been great.
Comedy movie, comedy movie... There aren't many comedy movies I can watch more than once. Out of all of them, I'd nominate Super Troopers.
You just saw the situation be handled without the use of lethal force, but sure, an excuse to kill someone is always cool I guess.

Thought it was meant to be Korone from the thumbnail. But a cat is fine too.
The matter of selling aside, yes, people will likely *leave* their homes and move inland. But that's not the problem. Look at what happens today when just a couple hundred migrants show up at a border unannounced. Now make that a thousand refugees, *every day*, fleeing climate destruction to where they can't simply be "sent back". I believe people will do what they can at first, but eventually supply chains will break down. Support will evaporate. Borders will close. And then the guns come out.

Surely nothing bad can come from releasing this firmware update on Friday at 4:57 PM.
Did you say ALWAYS release on a Friday at 4:53 PM?
We covered this ages ago.
You shouldn't be able to abstain at all. In Australia, there's a fine for not voting, and the most you can do is ruin your ballot by 'voting' for a junk candidate. *Some* exceptions exist, like if you're out of the country or something, but that covers very few votes and you *can* vote while away if you wish. There are responsibilities to living in a democracy. Voting is, quite literally, the bare minimum you're expected to do and should be compulsory.
Meanwhile in North America, we willingly spray that shit on our own food because it's slightly cheaper than paying people to pick a few weeds.
