It's the traditional recipe. You would be hard pressed to find a ricotta cheese lasagne in europe. Im sure you can, but i have never encountered it on a menu.
I always figured the ricotta mix was an italian american thing. Had an ex that used to make it like that, and she was from the US. I prefer it with bechemel, but i like the more cheese ricotta kind too.
